I Dream of An Atlanta Burlesque Festival

Thursday, December 28, 2006 | |

Just like the one in New York.

Is it possible?

I think so. We have festivals all the time for foreign movies no one really wants to watch (Iran only has one kind of movie: Depressing). Why not a festival for something that even the ayatollah would enjoy?

I don't know anything about arranging this kind of thing. What doess it take? Where could it be held? Who would be the sponsors? Is there some kind of bonding and licensure necessary? And lastly and most importantly, would it be possible to get all of the groups from the region up on one stage without a (delicious) cat fight breaking out?

Please weigh in on this topic at your leisure. I'm going to go read some more of Khomeni's dope love verse. No I'm not kidding, check it out.

We've talked about it. I know I'd love to have a kickass showcase of the broad range of burlesque performed in our little town. Maybe 2007 is the year!

I think so too.

At the very least I'm going to do a gallery showing this year of burlesque themes with invited performers and models.
